Here are some of the lovely images captured during the annual Pola holiday celebrations at our Home for Retired Bullocks.

Pola (also known as Bendur) is intended to honor bullocks, but of course, we shared the festivities with all our retired and rescued residents, who received tasty treats and were adorned with flower garlands (which they also got to eat afterward).

This year, through educational outreach and interventions at Pola festivals in local villages, Animal Rahat prevented 307 bullock owners from decorating their bullocks’ bodies with toxic powder, rasping their horns (which can expose the nerves and cause extreme pain), and coloring them with chemical powders or paint (which can cause horn cancer).

We’re grateful to everyone who helps Animal Rahat blaze the trail toward a kinder future for animals in India. Our supporters’ generosity and understanding of what these animals endure mean the difference between pain and peace for hundreds of animals every month.
