Along with working animals and street dogs in India, Animal Rahat  helps all kinds of wildlife. Here are some highlights of Animal Rahat’s recent work to help suffering birds.

The unfortunate crow below had become entangled in a kite string and was dangling perilously from a tall coconut tree. An Animal Rahat veterinarian immediately summoned a trained tree climber, who, with great dexterity, was able not only to scale the giant tree within minutes and cut the string but also to climb back down single-handedly while using the other hand to carry the crow. (We’d be hard-pressed to find someone with that skill in the U.S.!)

Our vet carefully removed the string that was wrapped around the bird’s legs, gave him some much-needed water, and, after seeing that he was uninjured, released him and watched as he flew quickly away.

Some other feathered friends who benefited from Animal Rahat’s services last month include 10 baby sparrows whose nests had accidentally been knocked to the ground by an excavator.

We carefully gathered the nests and reattached them—securely and out of reach of the excavator—onto the same trees from which they’d fallen so that their parents could find them.

Thank you so much for supporting the Animal Rahat mission, and best wishes for a wonderful holiday season!
