Among the many animals we rescued last month was this pony, who had fallen into a drainage ditch and couldn’t get out. Fortunately, an Animal Rahat scout found her. He called another staffer, who arrived in minutes, and the two recruited villagers to help them lift her out.

The team then washed her off, assessed her for injuries—she was miraculously without any broken bones—and gave her an injection of an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. After a half hour, she recovered and walked home.
