There is good news to report on Animal Rahat’s campaign to make sure that bulls are anesthetized prior to castration. As you know, our veterinarians have given several presentations on painless castration at conferences for veterinarians and livestock officers. Last month, a local veterinarian took it upon himself to contact us and request to observe the procedure. We gladly complied and have since received similar requests from other local vets whom we look forward to training. This is a wonderful sign!

We couldn’t resist adding this picture of John, Suzy, and Ruzi (below). You might remember that Animal Rahat rescued them last month after they had been abandoned in a drainage gutter. They have now been sterilized and vaccinated and are thriving at Animal Rahat’s Home for Retired Bullocks, where they enjoy wrestling and playing chase. A staffer snapped this photo during a rare moment of repose.

Through the generosity of our wonderful supporters, the amount of relief provided by Animal Rahat last month was immense. Thank you for keeping the plight of India’s working animals in your thoughts.
