Through the generosity of our supporters, Animal Rahat provided 1,206 animals with crucial veterinary treatment last month, including 461 bullocks, 141 donkeys, 23 cows, and 21 horses. One of our patients was this bullock whom we discovered at a sugar factory. He was lame and suffering from a large, painful swelling on his left hip. We performed surgery on him, and he has now fully recovered.

In addition to injuries and disease, another hardship that animals in India face is Mother Nature. For example, the following photo was taken at our Home for Retired Bullocks. Do you see how the roof of this shade canopy is missing on the right side? That’s because it was destroyed by heavy rains.

We’re now in the process of replacing all the wood and thatch sheds with metal ones, such as those seen above, under which four of our retirees are enjoying a respite from the sun.

While this is a worthwhile investment, it has put a dent in our budget this month that we are now seeking to recover.

We’re grateful that people around the world care about India’s working animals and support Animal Rahat’s work. Freeing horses from the misery of hauling carriages in the sweltering heat and heavy traffic, liberating elephants from enslavement in chains, and much more—there’s no limit to what Animal Rahat can achieve with compassionate people like you on our team!
