Animal Rahat carried out multiple nail-biting rescue missions last month in addition to providing 1,462 animals with vital veterinary care, including animals used in a circus.

It has been said that it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. Well, our wish for this month was for a camel to enter heaven on Earth!

This camel, named Laxmi, was being forced to perform by Grand Circus, along with seven horses and 10 dogs. An Animal Rahat veterinarian and an assistant conducted an inspection of the circus, which revealed that blind dogs were being housed inside cramped and filthy cages; horses were blind, lame, and wounded; and Laxmi suffered from mange.

In a huge victory following our inspection, Grand Circus agreed to relinquish all 18 animals and become an animal-free circus! The horses and dogs were taken in by another animal-welfare group. Laxmi came to our Home for Retired Bullocks, where she has befriended Waheed, the camel we rescued earlier this year. Laxmi is finally receiving the veterinary care she needs, and best of all, she’ll never be beaten or forced to perform again.
