Yashwant used to spend time shooting birds with his slingshot because no one had ever taught him not to—but that was before Animal Rahat’s education officer held a humane education session for all the students in Yashwant’s village.

A few days later, that officer received a call from Yashwant with some terrific news: After thinking about Animal Rahat’s lessons, he destroyed his slingshot, swore off shooting birds and all other animals, and urged all his friends to do the same! His compassion didn’t end there, though. He shared what he had learned with his family, and they all now put out food and water for the local birds.
