Traps are indiscriminate and pose a threat to every animal unfortunate enough to run across them, whether in India or in another part of the world. This dog got stuck in a trap set for an antelope. He somehow freed himself, but a jagged piece of wire remained tightly wrapped around his paw. Every laborious step he took caused intense pain.

A dog with a wire embedded in his foot struggles to walk.

A villager who spotted the wounded dog attempted to catch him. But the frightened animal repeatedly evaded his grasp. Luckily, the man knew just whom to call for help: Animal Rahat.

When the rescue team arrived, they found the dog and used tasty biscuits to lure him closer to them. The dog slowly approached. The team noticed the tender, open wound caused by the embedded wire. Every movement the dog made must have sent jolts of stabbing pain right through his paw! One team member tossed more tasty biscuits his way while another was able to catch him with a net and sedate him.

After sedating the dog, the rescue team gently laid him on a sheet.

With the injured dog finally calm from the sedation, the team worked meticulously to cut the wire out of his skin and clean the wound. They gave him shots of antibiotics and a pain reliever to help his body heal. Before taking him back to the office for follow-up care, vaccinations, and sterilization, the team made sure to dispose of the trap.

While his wounds healed, the dog enjoyed the loving care given to him by the staff.
