Champi was hopelessly trapped in coal tar that covered her entire left side, all four legs, and both ears when Animal Rahat’s team found her discarded by the side of a busy road among trash and other debris.

An Animal Rahat staff member gently lays a sedated Champi on a small blanket. Her entire left side is covered with coal tar, trash, and other debris.

After gently removing her from her predicament, the team rushed her back to the office and began her intensive treatment. It took four days of meticulously applying vegetable and coconut oil before all the tar was finally removed. During her treatment, she also enjoyed daily walks and grooming sessions, hearty meals, and lots of attention and affection from the office staff.

Two Animal Rahat staff members work together to clean the last of the tar from Champi's body. Enough tar has been removed now that she no longer requires sedation while the staff apply oil.

Once the tar was gone and Champi had completed a course of antibiotics, she was ready to go home with her new family. Animal Rahat’s team followed up to spay and vaccinate her, protecting her from rabies and preventing her from giving birth to litters that could contribute to the homeless-animal population.

These days, Champi is living her best life. She’s thriving in her new home with her loving family, and she’s growing up healthy and happy. She even made friends with the other animals at the home, including some rescued chickens!
