Here are just a few of the more than 1,200 animals whose suffering we helped relieve over the past month alone through crucial veterinary care, rescue work, and other intervention.

As you can tell from the peaceful expressions on the faces of these bullocks under their lovely shade canopy, they are grateful, too—grateful for a respite from the driving sun.

During its visits to local sugar factories this past month, Animal Rahat provided overheated bullocks with relief by persuading 84 owners to construct these temporary canopies on the factory property for their animals to rest beneath.

We also confiscated 10 yoke spikes, including two from this driver (shown above) as he was en route to a sugar factory. These torture devices are used to punish bullocks if they turn their heads or go in any direction except straight ahead. We have persuaded many sugar factories to ban them as well.

Another breakthrough that came as a result of a sugar factory visit was the retirement of the gorgeous bullock above.

One of our scouts spotted this elderly bullock, named Shingrya, at the Bhima sugar factory. Seeing that Shingrya was suffering from lameness, our scout spoke with his owner, Mr. Gire, and discovered that this was a recurring problem. After unsuccessfully trying to persuade Mr. Gire to allow Shingrya to retire, our scout then invited Mr. Gire’s neighbors into the discussion. After his neighbors all affirmed that Shingrya should be allowed to spend his last years at home resting, Mr. Gire finally agreed.

Our scout then took the next step and removed Shingrya’s nose rope. Free at last! After having this rope dig into his nostrils for almost 20 years, Shingrya is free of the wretched thing.
