It’s hard to believe, but just a few months ago, Sagar, Kaliya, Raja, and Vijay were working on the busy streets of Delhi, pulling carts day in and day out, a grueling and terrifying existence for these gentle horses.

Thanks to Animal Rahat’s pilot e-rickshaw program, they’ll now enjoy carefree days grazing and playing at the sanctuary, where they’ll spend the rest of their lives.

When they first arrived, the horses were quarantined while they were dewormed, castrated, and vaccinated against tetanus. Now, they are free to mingle with the other residents and are enjoying their new home and new friends.
