With resources provided by our wonderful supporters, 1,147 animals received vital veterinary care last month, including 464 bullocks, 90 donkeys, 27 horses, 21 sheep, 12 goats, and six buffalo. In the case pictured below, a bullock’s ear had been accidentally split in two by the sharp edge of a farm implement. An Animal Rahat vet sedated him with a technique called “standing stun,” which rendered him insensible to pain while eliminating the need to force him to lie down—something that bullocks find frightening and stressful.

Our vet expertly stitched up the wound and followed up for the next several days with antibiotics and painkillers. Two weeks later, the wound had healed and the stitches were removed.
