Just before Diwali, the Festival of Lights, as children all across India were anticipating joyous celebrations, Animal Rahat was visiting schools, encouraging students to join in making it a safe and festive holiday for their animal friends, too.

More than 14,660 children from 70 schools helped animals this year, pledging a resounding “No to Fireworks!” Their compassion no doubt prevented countless animals from being terrified by and fleeing from the sound of firecrackers. The children set out to encourage others not to set off fireworks, too, and pledged to call Animal Rahat whenever they see an animal in trouble.

These children pledged not to use firecrackers during Diwali in order to help keep the holiday safe for animals.

After learning about the harmful effects of fireworks on birds and other animals, more than 100 teachers and parents set a positive example by also signing the pledge and promising not to buy firecrackers.
