Our humane-education outreach in local elementary schools is constantly paying off. When visiting a school and teaching a class, our humane-education teacher, Kiran, always leaves his phone number and tells the children to call him if they ever need help with an animal emergency.

Last month, a young boy found a squab, or baby pigeon, who had fallen from her nest onto a busy road. He picked her up and immediately called Kiran, who went to where the boy was and took the bird back to our office. After checking to make sure she wasn’t injured, we returned her to her nest, and Kiran went to the boy’s home to let the family know what a compassionate deed he had done.

Another boy from a school that Kiran had visited spotted this kitten running toward a busy road. He scooped him up and took him home, but his mother wouldn’t let him keep him. So he took the kitten to a friend’s house and called Kiran. The kitten is now keeping us company at our office, and we’ll adopt him out to a loving home after he is neutered.
