While this horrific practice is meant to prevent mating, in Jaya’s case it seems the gruesome act was done too late to be effective birth control—and nearly had serious, potentially fatal consequences.

Just a few days after Animal Rahat removed the torturous wires and took her back to the sanctuary, she gave birth to a handsome colt named Rudi.
