“The animals at Animal Rahat’s sanctuaries have been rescued from terrible situations, including being experimented on in laboratories, on the verge of being slaughtered, forced to perform in circuses, and made to haul heavy loads of steel or sugarcane. But with us, the safety, comfort, and happiness of the rescued animals are paramount. With every celebration, we light up the animals’ lives, and you can see happiness in their eyes.”

—Dr. Naresh Upreti, Chief Operating Officer, Animal Rahat

Read about the animals whose lives we improved in these quarterly reports from Animal Rahat.

Issue 1: This quarter, we had sometimes hair-raising reminders of how quickly an ordinary day can turn life-threatening for animals and how crucial a timely response can be. Our phones rang with urgent calls: a cat trapped deep inside a narrow duct, a terrified dog wedged beneath a car’s undercarriage, animals stranded in monsoon flooding with nowhere safe to go. Every situation was different, each one demanded patience, teamwork, and care.

Issue 3: This quarter, Animal Rahat rescued over 150 animals in distress: a terrified dog trapped 70 feet down a well, a large snake suffocating in road tar, and ponies stumbling under heavy loads. At our Kolkata Sanctuary, rescued horses Dharma and Munmun found new lives they could never have dreamed of.

Issue 2: This quarterly report provides an inside look at this and every aspect of our life-changing work, from heart-pounding emergency rescues and spay/neuter/vaccinate drives to innovative factory mechanization programs that help working animals retire to one of our peaceful sanctuaries. Please, donate today and keep this vital work for working animals going strong.
