Ahead of Teacher’s Day, Animal Rahat is proud to honour Sachin Kusnale, a dedicated teacher, author, and snake rescuer from Kolhapur, with its inaugural Kind Teacher Award.

Mr. Sachin Kusnale received the award alongside his students of Vidya Mandir Ganeshwadi Mal School from Animal Rahat’s Senior Education Officer, Mr. Kiran Kanthe.

For the past 28 years, Kusnale has inspired generations of students at Vidya Mandir Ganeshwadi Mal School in Shirol, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, to be kinder to animals. Through his lessons, children learn simple yet impactful ways to protect animals, from avoiding glass-coated kite strings that injure birds to understanding how fireworks cause fear and distress to dogs, monkeys, birds, and other animals.

Beyond the classroom, Kusnale actively promotes compassion through his writing and community outreach. As an author, he encourages kindness toward animals and harmonious living with nature. As a trained snake rescuer, he has safely relocated countless snakes from residential areas and returned them to their natural habitats.

His work closely reflects Animal Rahat’s mission of creating a more compassionate world for animals. Through its Compassionate Citizen programme, Animal Rahat has helped approximately 70,000 children across Maharashtra develop empathy and respect for animals.
