This image shows a water buffalo at the bottom of a well and Animal Rahat rescuers preparing to lift her out with a crane.

This water buffalo was tied up dangerously close to the muddy ledge of a 60-foot-deep well. One misstep sent her careening into the shallow water below, the tether attached to a rope threaded through her nose snapping as she fell—OUCH! The rescue team hired a crane to lift her back onto solid ground and removed that terrible nose rope. In the wake of this terrifying ordeal, she was treated with pain medicine and comforted with sugar cane tops. Meanwhile, the team talked to her owner about not tethering animals so close to the well.
