Last week, the sanctuary residents were treated to an extra-special Diwali celebration! Here’s a glimpse into some of the fun that they had:

Pratap, Amelia, and Rosy celebrate with Animal Rahat staff.

Below, Tracy, Roushya, and Jim feast on molasses and apples, the ruminants’ favorite combo platter.

Many of the residents wore garlands of marigold, a beautiful, edible flower.

Most of the residents waited until the garlands were off to eat them, but Bandya couldn’t help himself—here, he nibbles on the decorations while the party is still going on.

The staff had decorated the grounds with festive flowers and paper lanterns earlier in the day. Even the office, below, was decked out.

Later, the animals returned to their routine with a late-day grooming session and dinner, and then it was time for bed.

While the animals sleep, the festive lights illuminate the sanctuary gates well into the night.
