Diya’s fight for survival began with a simple act of kindness. Nursing her puppies had likely caused the young mother to develop a painful mammary tumor that grew to an astonishing three kilograms, or nearly seven pounds. Diya could barely maneuver her back legs around the swollen mass, leaving her unable to escape danger. A kind man who had started feeding her alerted Animal Rahat, and while our vets were worried that the tumor could be removed without issue, they knew she required emergency surgery. It took the patience and skill of two Animal Rahat veterinarians to extract the entire tumor and repair Diya’s tissue, but after a couple of days in their care, she was gallivanting through the field office, soaking up affection and treats. Before long, she was vaccinated, spayed, and welcomed home by her friend.
