The fear was evident in this dog’s eyes as she clung to the bottom rung of a rusty ladder, only inches away from murky water that threatened to engulf her. For Animal Rahat’s rescuer, working his way down into the 30-foot deep well without frightening her into falling was a master feat. Once he secured her in a net, team members hoisted her, scared and wriggling, back onto solid ground. Miraculously, she was uninjured, and back at the field office, slowly calmed as she grew to realize that she was in caring hands. After some rest, she underwent spay surgery, vaccinations, and received a ride home to community members who vowed to help keep her safe.
