You may recall that several months ago, Animal Rahat welcomed a group of donkeys who were rescued from an illegal sand-mining operation to its Sangli sanctuary.

It turned out that some of the mares were pregnant, and in the past month, two babies were born!

All the donkeys are healthy and doing well, and more mares are expected to give birth any minute. Prior to joining the Animal Rahat family, Kalyani and Maya had been forced to haul huge bags of wet sand on their backs from a riverbed to a secret location, working night after night from dusk until dawn. Thanks to Animal Rahat’s supporters, Snow White and Kaliya have been spared that living nightmare and their mothers can spend their days nurturing their beloved foals and watching them grow up happy and free.
